{"id":723,"date":"2021-01-15T15:33:11","date_gmt":"2021-01-15T20:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hhhinfo.com\/worship\/?p=723"},"modified":"2021-01-15T15:33:11","modified_gmt":"2021-01-15T20:33:11","slug":"reflection-from-marianne-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hhhinfo.com\/worship\/reflection-from-marianne-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Reflection from Marianne"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" src=\"https:\/\/hhhinfo.com\/worship\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Marianne-reflection-1-15-21-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-724\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hhhinfo.com\/worship\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Marianne-reflection-1-15-21-1.jpg 350w, https:\/\/hhhinfo.com\/worship\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Marianne-reflection-1-15-21-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Yin and Yang<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This week I was honored to deliver a eulogy for one of our dear residents, Ellie Wells, who passed away in December.&nbsp; In preparation for writing Ellie\u2019s eulogy, I spoke with her children so I could represent her life more fully. &nbsp;When I speak with family members and ask them to tell me about their loved one\u2019s life, there is often a tendency to focus on the positive parts of a loved one\u2019s life and remember the many happy times they shared together.&nbsp; When I spoke with Ellie\u2019s children, I was impressed with their willingness to openly share the difficult times, as well as the joyful parts, of their mother\u2019s life.&nbsp; They recognized both of these experiences are what shaped Ellie\u2019s character and her unique wholeness.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delivering Ellie\u2019s eulogy has prompted me to reflect on the Yin and Yang of Chinese philosophy dating back to the&nbsp;<em>I Ching&nbsp;<\/em>of 700 BCE. Yin and Yang are opposite and complementary energies. They are fundamentally balanced with one another, and interdependent.
