"On July 10th, seven hikers set out on the Lake Loop Trail, a 0.5 mile trail down to Lake Sunapee from The Hay House. At the lake we continued the hike for a short distance before the group split. Three hikers continued on for the rest of the trail distance and four returned on the short loop back to the house. Before parting, we all had a fascinating peek at a loon on her nest. The longer trail was steep but, as Bud said, the hikers could “take built in brakes” to read the information signs describing the glacial moraines (rocks that have been carried down by the glaciers) and other signs describing the forest trees. The 4 who returned on the short trail, wanted to participate in the tours of The Hay House and gardens. In spite of the heat, it was a wonderful day." ~ Valnere McLean 🥾

Our CEO Michael Palmieri shares a special message following the Table Tennis Finals: "Winning by a margin of two games to one and the final game only separated by just a few points, Jason Caprarello is the new HHH Table Tennis Champion. As the only seeded player left in the event and the number one seed at that, Jason played a fast-paced steady game. These two players were very evenly matched and brought numerous lengthy rallies and exciting points to a filled Havenwood lobby.
Residents with pom-poms and Sue Edge providing motivational and inspirational music made for excitement and drama! Mike talked about the dedication of the event to former resident Rufford Harrison, a Table Tennis Hall of Famer, and the mood was set for a great match. The depiction on the trophies represents his name.
Despite the fun of the event, it was an incredible opportunity to pair residents and staff together in a competitive environment over the past couple of months. This was also a nostalgic event as so many of the participants remembered playing growing up with their parents and even folks having summer camp remembrances.
Everyone had a ton of fun as we put this event in the HHH history books! Our next big event will be centered around the basketball court and hoop at the incredible and beautiful Bill Klapproth Sports Complex. And of course, all are welcome to participate! Where else could you find an organization that does this stuff?? Go HHH!!!!!!!!" 🏓

"On June 26th six HHH hikers “adventured” in the 90+ degrees, very buggy, 2-mile hike at Deepwood Forest in Canterbury. This amazing 400 acre property was established by Ken and Ilene Stern in 2021 when they teamed up with the Forest Society and created a conservation easement. Ken is quoted in the Winter 2024 edition of “Forest Notes”: `It was our goal for our community and region to have a special place to enjoy, which now will be conserved forever. Our gift to the community will provide a place for nature to thrive and where people can explore and learn from their experiences.` The Sterns have created and cared for 3 1⁄2 miles of trails – 1 mile of which is a moderate walk and a 2-mile loop that is more rugged. We enjoyed the “Meadow Walk” to the wildflower meadow which the Sterns cleared and planted and the “Beaver Pond Trail” out to a really beautiful, peaceful beaver pond. After the resident frogs got used to our voices, they created quite a song together. There was also a large beaver hut, but we didn’t see anything moving." ~Jane Heigis

We first opened our doors in 1967 with our original Havenwood Campus - New Hampshire`s first independent living retirement community. In 1980, we added our second campus, Heritage Heights.
