Senior Living Fees

When a senior transitions to a CCRC, they can expect to pay two different types of fees: an entrance fee and a monthly fee.

Entrance Fees

An entrance fee is a one-time, up-front charge. This expense secures a resident’s spot at a CCRC, ensuring they have access to a continuum of support for life.

These fees vary, with some communities charging upwards of $1 million. At Havenwood Heritage Heights, we believe all seniors should have the opportunity to receive attentive and personalized care. As such, we charge a comparatively affordable entrance fee within the range of $55,700 and $244,000.

What Is Included in the Cost of Senior Living?

The recurring charge at a senior living community covers much more than rent. This fee affords all residents – regardless of care level – access to a stress-free lifestyle.

More specifically, residents at Havenwood Heritage Heights enjoy a range of services and amenities, including:

  • Indoor and outdoor pools
  • Community greens and walking trails
  • Library, billiards room, movie theater, quilting room, and woodworking shop
  • Cultural arts center, chapel, and meditation room
  • 24-hour emergency services
  • 24-hour staffing on units
  • Labs services
  • Dietician consultations
  • Wellness programming
  • Care management services
  • Housekeeping services
  • 24/7 security
  • Chef-prepared dining
  • On- and off-campus social programming

Cost of Independent Living

Independent living communities are perfect for individuals who are craving a maintenance-free lifestyle in the company of others. Since this level of care doesn’t offer regular medical or in-home assistance, it is the most affordable senior living option.

At Havenwood Heritage Heights, residents pay anywhere from $1,640 to $5,025 for independent living. Compared to the New Hampshire average of $3,537 per month, our rates are very reasonable.

Our community provides a wide range of floor plans to suit your budget and style. Residents have the option of cozy yet spacious one-bedroom cottages, two-bedroom cottages with or without a basement, and three-bedroom cottages with an attached single-car garage.

Cost of Assisted Living

Assisted living is a type of long-term care for older adults who struggle to complete everyday tasks like bathing and eating. Because assisted living communities provide more intensive support, monthly fees in New Hampshire average $7,021 per month.

At Havenwood Heritage Heights, we offer families a cost-effective solution to assisted living care. A one-room apartment in our Concord assisted living community starts at $4,400 while a two-room apartment for a couple starts at $7,570.

This monthly fee provides residents access to unparalleled support. Trained staff are available to help with activities of daily living such as showering, dressing, and toileting. Staff can also assist with instrumental activities of daily living like cooking, cleaning, and transportation.

Monthly Fees

Charged on a recurring basis, monthly fees encompass a variety of expenses – from home maintenance to dining.

Like entrance fees, monthly fees vary depending on the community your family chooses. However, this expense also depends on the level of care your aging parent needs. As a general rule, higher levels of support like skilled nursing are more costly than lower levels of support like independent living.

At Havenwood Heritage Heights, fees range from $1,640 to $5,025 per month. Memory care, skilled nursing, and short-term rehabilitation are charged on a daily basis, with rates ranging from $351 to $427.

Cost of Memory Care

Memory care is designed for seniors with cognitive impairments, Alzheimer’s disease, or other dementia-related conditions. Since these residents have unique needs and require more personalized support, memory care typically costs 20 to 30% more than assisted living.

At Havenwood Heritage Heights, we seek to provide high-quality care that is accessible and affordable. Family members of memory care residents can expect to pay $342 per day for a semi-private room and $396 per day for a private room.

Though our rates are typical for New Hampshire, we set the standard for memory care. In addition to assisting with activities of daily and instrumental living, our specially trained staff offer alternative therapies to slow cognitive decline and reduce anxiety associated with memory loss.

Cost of Skilled Nursing

Skilled nursing is a high level of medical care that can only be administered by trained healthcare professionals. A senior may seek skilled nursing after a prolonged hospital stay or to manage a chronic condition.

Unfortunately, skilled nursing is more expensive than other senior care options. However, we keep costs low by hiring certified on-site staff members rather than contracting with outside providers. Our private and semi-private skilled nursing accommodations are $403 and $331 per day, respectively.

As part of this daily charge, residents gain access to a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals, including physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Our nursing assistants are also available to assist with self-care tasks.

Cost of Rehabilitation

Short-term rehabilitation bridges the gap from hospital to home, helping residents recover from surgery, illness, or accident in a comfortable and supportive setting.

The expense of short-term rehabilitation can be intimidating, especially in the wake of a costly hospital stay. However, you must remember that out-of-pocket costs depend on many different factors like medication fees, therapy charges, and health insurance coverage.

At Havenwood Heritage Heights, our daily short-term rehabilitation rates are in-line with the state average and range from $331 to $403 per day, depending on the room you select.

This flat fee covers a spectrum of post-acute care, including medication management, continence care, physical and occupational therapies, staffed nursing, speech therapy, meals and nutritional monitoring, and intravenous therapies. Short-term rehabilitation residents can also participate in stimulating social programming as they recover.

Comparing the Value of Senior Living vs. Aging-in-Place

When weighing senior care options, some families assume that community-style living is financially out of reach. But when compared to aging in place or living out your golden years at home, a CCRC is more affordable than most think.

Since CCRCs are all-inclusive, the monthly charge encompasses fees like housekeeping, rent, and dining. Even better, residents need not worry about the unexpected expenses associated with homeownership. If a pipe bursts or the air conditioning stops working, the community is responsible – not the resident.

CCRCs also provide invaluable peace of mind. Family members can rest easy knowing that no matter what happens in the future, their loved one’s needs will be met by a spectrum of care. For many families, this assurance is a deciding factor when comparing senior living vs. aging-in-place.
