The Right Time for the Right Choice

When Pat began exploring retirement options, she and Rick discovered something they hadn't known existed – a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). The concept resonated so strongly that they immediately narrowed their search to CCRCs only, with Heritage Heights emerging as their clear choice.

"The financial model was important," Pat explains, noting how well it aligned with their planning. The community's proximity to their children and its accreditation status – which Pat particularly appreciated from her background in childcare – were crucial factors in their decision.

The couple quickly immersed themselves in community life. Rick joined the executive council and started an art club, while both he and Pat became active in pickleball. They appreciate the varied offerings, from the fitness center and hiking club to academic opportunities and visiting speakers.

Now, they're eagerly anticipating their next chapter at Heritage Heights – a new construction that will be their future home. Rick's daily visits to check on construction progress reflect their excitement about the spacious new unit, which will feature a large living room and finished basement, expanding their living space to nearly 1,600 square feet.

Their most powerful message to others considering the move? "Do it now rather than later," Rick advises. "Later on, being realistic, most of us will probably need some very extra care and we won't be as mobile or as healthy as we are now. Here, when we get to that point, all the steps are in place."

"It's really a personal decision," Rick reflects, "but I think we did the right thing and we're happy we did."
